The Caribbean Safety Standard is a regional accepted safety standard for safety management systems to improve safety during risky activities. This standard was developed in the Caribbean and is certifiable for all companies that deal with hazardous work in a hazardous environment. The Caribbean Safety Standard is managed by the Caribbean Health & Safety Foundation with the aim to monitor the quality and continuity of the standard.

The standard established by the need of many companies in the Caribbean to demonstrable stand out as distinctive as well, reliable and safe working companies.

 

The strategic business policy of an organization describes that the company will try to abide by the laws and regulations and specific agreements in every way possible. It will also ensure a safe working environment by a trained staff and provide them with proper facilities and equipment.

The Caribbean Safety Standard, CSS2009, for certification of safety management systems is suitable in this context. These management systems as used by the certificate holders, meet the relevant safety and social criteria accepted in the Caribbean. These requirements are set in the counting standard document which is drafted by experts and approved and managed by the Caribbean Health & Safety Foundation. By issuance of a Caribbean Safety Standard certificate is shown and anchored that the certificate holder is able to work in a safe and responsible manner in the specific sector.
